Matchclay surface

Par : Playrite

Matchclay by Playrite is a new-generation clay tennis court with ITF1 certification.

Obtained by combining a needle-punched mat with a clay mixture, the mat has been designed to behave like traditional clay without the high cost of maintenance.

MatchClay therefore offers playing characteristics and ball rebound similar to those of a traditional clay tennis court. It allows players to glide and anticipate their shots with precision.

The surface also comes with painted lines. The product’s impermeability means it can be used year-round, extending the period of outdoor play until the ground is completely frozen.

Features

  • Same quality of play as clay;
  • Extended playing season;
  • Much lower maintenance costs than a traditional clay surface;
  • Quick installation.

FAQ

Like traditional clay, Matchclay offers one of the slowest playing surfaces, making it accessible to players of all levels! The surface is also very sensitive to effects, while being very comfortable for the joints and making sliding easier.

Although it requires much less maintenance than a traditional clay court, Matchclay still needs to be maintained to provide an optimal playing experience and ensure its longevity.

A general inspection of the surface and seams should be carried out on a daily basis, as well as the removal of debris (leaves and other vegetation, for example). Apart from that, the ritual of game preparation is very similar to that of a traditional court. Before a game, you'll need to sweep the court and lines, and water the court a minimum of twice a day to ensure that the clay remains compact and avoids dust build-up.

On a level porous surface, installation is pretty straightforward. First, the surface is laid, then the lines are traced, then the surface is filled, and finally the surface filling is brushed and evened out.
